GLOBAL  IMPACT  STUDIES

If you find the truth, will you believe it?

If any man desires to do God's will, he will have the needed illumination to recognize, and can tell for himself whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking from myself and on my own accord.  John 7:17

When Will Yahushua Return?

Part 1

Jubilee Years

Charts 1 & 2

"Return, O Yahuwah, how long?" (Ps. 90:13, emphasis added). "We see not our sign: there is no more any prophet: neither is there among us any that knows how long?" (Ps. 74:9, emphasis added). At the age of 75 (Jan. 2023), I still have an inquisitive mind, and when I see questions like the preceding ones in the Word of Elohim, I have to ask myself those same questions. And when we ask ourselves those questions, we come up without an answer, just as the disciples did with Yahushua.

"Then said some of His disciples among themselves, What is this that He saith unto us, A little while, and you shall not see Me: and again, a little while, and you shall see Me: and, Because I go to My Father? They said therefore, What is this that He saith, A little while? we cannot tell what He saith. Now Yahushua knew that they were desirous to ask Him, and said unto them, Do you enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and you shall not see Me: and again, a little while, and you shall see Me again?" (John 16:17-19, emphasis added).

Then He went on to tell the disciples what He meant.  If they had just asked Him to begin with, do you think He would have told them?  There are a number of instances in the Gospels where after Yahushua had given a parable, the disciples came to Him and asked Him to explain what He had just taught.  Why did they not do it here?  I do not know why?  Maybe it was to help us to see that we can come to Yahushua to ask Him to explain things to us as He did with the disciples.  And if we ask Him, the Bible tells us we shall receive (Matt. 7:7).   Most do not bother to ask for one reason or another.  Most are content with what they understand.

We are no different than those disciples. We ask questions “among ourselves” and come up empty when if we would go to Yahushua or His Father and ask Them for the answer, They would gladly give the answer to us. How long before Yahushua returns? "And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find” (Luke 11:9).

"And the Word of Yahuwah was precious in those days; there was no open vision" (1 Sam. 3:1, emphasis added). Today, to my knowledge, there are no open visions, and Yahuwah's Word is indeed precious to us or It should be. It is the means by which the Spirit of Elohim communicates to us (John 16:13). Can we know when Yahushua will return? "Ask, and [the promise is] it shall be given unto you" (Luke 11:9). Our heavenly Father loves showing us things from His Word when we take the time to spend with Him. "Be still, and know that I am Elohim" (Ps. 46:10). Sometimes it takes a while for Him to get through to us, but in the end, He assures us we will receive what we ask for.  He will not give us a stone if we ask for a loaf of bread or a serpent if we ask for a fish (Matt. 7:9-10).

Yahushua told us to "give to him that asks of thee" (Matt. 5:42).  And if He tells us what to do, will not He do the same?  "You have not, because you ask not" (Jam. 4:2).  "According to your faith be it unto you" (Matt. 9:29).  Most do not have a faith that waits upon Elohim to fulfill His Word to them.  We are, for the most part, an impatient bunch!  And we do not want to show our ignorance by asking, would we?

Forty-nine years ago, I became a Christian and was told Yahushua was coming "soon." Do you think forty-nine years is soon? I am afraid we say or hear many things that are not carefully thought through after much prayer and study. I can remember hearing a sermon about fifteen to twenty years ago where the minister said he believed the return of Yahushua could be only months away, and here it is more than fifteen years later, and still, Yahushua has not yet returned.

I fear many are giving voice to the devil's deceptions. When we are told something and it just never happens as soon as we expect, we can get discouraged and give up.  “Hope deferred makes the heart sick” (Prov. 13:12).  Yahushua will return, but that is not founded on speculation, but because Yahushua said He will return and what He tells us, as recorded in the Bible, needs to be believed.  I do not like to have unrealistic expectations, and I pray you do not like to have them either.

Unfortunately, many have done and continue to do as the little boy who hollered "wolf, wolf" when there was no wolf.  After hearing the little boy yelling "wolf" for so long and for so many times, people began to ignore him, and when the wolf finally did come, no one paid any attention to the boy's cries.

I believe it is the same thing as with what people are saying about the return of Yahushua. We become numb and desensitized to what is being declared when what is “predicted” does not occur. Please note Elohim does not predict the future; He foretells the future.  He knows and does not have to guess as to what is coming!  After a while, people who are giving such a message not based on sound Biblical study lose all credibility with the people.

I have not found any that have given serious study to determine when Yahushua is returning. This study is a series of personal studies I have done to try to determine when Yahushua will return, believing the promise made to us by Yahushua will be kept by Yahushua and His Father.  “Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come” (John 16:13, emphasis added).

In the pursuit of truth, some subjects seem to be off limits for our consideration, and some subjects have never been fully considered because the time for understanding them was not at hand.  Elohim works on a need-to-know basis, and when the time comes for those subjects to be understood, Elohim moves upon His people to study them. The book of Daniel was not to be understood until we should come "to the time of the end" (Dan. 12:4). "And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand" (Dan. 12:9-10, emphasis added).

"But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased" (Dan. 12:4, emphasis added). The term "run to and fro" was understood at the time of the writing of Daniel to be a Hebrew idiom for "thinking upon time." Daniel 12:4 could read, "Many shall think upon time and knowledge regarding that time shall be increased" (emphasis added).  The knowledge of the time to be increased would be the times mentioned in Daniel chapter twelve and Daniel 8:14.   The entire book of Daniel was to be sealed “even to the time of the end.”  If no one is thinking “upon time,” will “knowledge regarding that time be increased?”  No!

Many, when they read what this article is about, will cry, "You are time setting," not realizing they have already set times for those times mentioned in Daniel chapters eight and twelve when we are told the book of Daniel was to be sealed until we reach “the time of the end.”  Any studies that have been done in the past are not correct because the book of Daniel would not be opened to our understanding until we reach “the time of the end.”

“But of that day and that hour knows no man, not the angels which are heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take you heed, watch and pray: for you know not when the time is" (Mark 13:32-33; Matt. 24:36, 25:13, emphasis added). Luke is a little more specific and says "at an hour when you think not" (Luke 12:39, 40, 46). Luke limits it to just the hour, not being known when Yahushua will return.  People who read Mark 13:32-33 think this verse says, “no man will [ever] know the day or the hour.”  Are we to understand even Yahushua will never know?  From what my studies have shown, that is not the case.  At the very least, the month and the year can be known, which Mark 13:32-33 does not say we will not know.

Yahushua told His disciples on the night before He was crucified, "I have yet many things to say unto you, but you cannot bear them now. Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come. He shall glorify Me: for He shall receive of Mine, and shall show it unto you" (John 16:12-14, emphasis added).

So from what we read here in John, Yahushua did not show His disciples all the things He had wanted to because they would not be able to receive or understand them at that point in time. He further told His disciples in Acts 1:7, "It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in His Own power" (emphasis added). It was not necessary for the disciples to understand the "times or the seasons" because they did not pertain to the times in which they lived.

Is it necessary for us to understand the "times or the seasons?’  According to what is written in Daniel chapter twelve, it is. Knowledge regarding “the time of the end” ("times or the seasons") will be made known to the "wise.” It is no fun walking in the dark, and when Elohim makes light (truth) available to His children, is it not prudent to at least investigate what might be available to us at this time in earth’s history and see if it passes the Biblical test for validity? "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" (Isa. 8:20, emphasis added).

I only ask you to be as noble as the Bereans were in their dealings with the Apostle Paul. "These [the believers from Berea] were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so" (Acts 17:11, emphasis added). They were willing to listen to what Paul had to say to them, and then they would examine the Scriptures to see if what he was saying could be supported from the Scriptures (Isa. 8:20).

Some people will shut their minds to everything that differs in the least from their understanding of the Scriptures. That is called bigotry which is defined by Webster's Dictionary as "someone who is obstinately and intolerantly devoted to his own beliefs, creed or party [denomination]." Truth is not stagnant, but it is always growing in clarity. Luke 5:36-39.

“Sometimes people hold a core belief which is very strong.  When they are presented with evidence that works against that belief, the new evidence cannot be accepted.  It would create a feeling that is extremely uncomfortable called cognitive dissonance.  And because it is so important to protect that core belief, they will rationalize, ignore and even deny anything that does not fit with that core belief.” Frantz Fanon  This attitude has a great deal to do with pride.

In Leviticus chapter twenty-five, Elohim set up what has come to be known as the Jubilee calendar.  “And thou shalt number seven Sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven Sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years. Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall you make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. And you shall hallow the fiftieth year . . . it shall be a jubilee unto you” (Lev. 25:8-10, emphasis added).

There has been confusion over the actual length of the Jubilee Calendar over the years as to whether it should be forty-nine years or fifty years in length.  Hopefully, by looking at the following Scriptures and the following two charts, there can be clarification on this matter.

Let us first look at the book of Jeremiah.  “And this whole land shall be a desolation, an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.”  “For thus saith Yahuwah, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform My good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place” (Jer. 25:11, 29:10, emphasis added).

How did Elohim come up with seventy years for Israel to be brought into Babylonian captivity?  In Leviticus chapter twenty-six, Elohim told Israel what He would do to them if they walked in His ways (Lev. 26:3-13).  Furthermore, in Leviticus chapter twenty-six, Elohim warned Israel what He would do to them if they would not hearken unto Him “and will not do all these commandments” (Lev. 26:14-46). There were conditions on which Elohim based His promises, and depending on whether they obeyed or disobeyed Him, certain things were to come to pass.

One of those conditions, with the subsequent promise of Elohim, is found in the following verses: “And if you will not for all this hearken unto Me, but walk contrary unto Me; then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins. And you shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall you eat.  And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast out your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and My soul shall abhor you.  And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours. And I will bring the land into desolation:  and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it.  And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you:  and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste. Then shall the land enjoy her Sabbaths [every seventh year was a Sabbath year according to the Jubilee calendar], as long as it lies desolate, and you be in your enemies' land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her Sabbaths, as long as it lies desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your Sabbaths, when you dwelt upon it” (Lev. 26: 27-35, emphasis added).

Elohim told them if they did not give their land rest during the Sabbath years (Every seventh year of a forty-nine-year cycle.), of which there were seven Sabbath years in each Jubilee cycle, and the land was to rest on the Jubilee year as well, then He would drive them out of the land, and their land would have its rest.

How do we know how many Sabbaths and Jubilees they violated?  “To fulfill the word of Yahuwah by the mouth of Jeremiah [Jer. 25:11; 29:10], until the land had enjoyed her Sabbaths:  for as long as she (The land of Israel) lay desolate [seventy years] she (The land of Israel) kept Sabbath, to fulfill threescore and ten (seventy) years” (2 Chron. 36:21, emphasis added).  Israel and Judah had evidently violated seventy Sabbatical (Rest) years.

Over how many years does it take to violate seventy Sabbatical years?  In the book of Ezekiel, Elohim gives Ezekiel some peculiar directions to follow.  “Lie thou also upon thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it:  according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon it thou shalt bear their iniquity. For I have laid upon thee the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days:  so shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.  And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days:  I have appointed thee each day for a year” (Eze. 4:4-6, emphasis added).

We see in these three verses that Ezekiel was to lie on his left side for three hundred and ninety days and on his right side for forty days for a total of four hundred and thirty days.  Did Israel and Judah violate seventy Sabbatical years over a period of four hundred and thirty years?

The following two charts will hopefully clarify the confusion that has existed over the Jubilee calendar.  The first chart and the second chart are laid out for four hundred and thirty years.  The first chart uses forty-nine years as the Jubilee cycle.  In this chart, the first year of the following Jubilee cycle is the Jubilee year for the preceding cycle and is noted in red.  It starts out with year number one being a Jubilee year.  The Sabbaticals (Sabbath or Jubilee) each have a number in parentheses which indicates its order in the sequence reaching to seventy.  The fifth Yearly Sabbath of the eighth Jubilee cycle is shown to be the seventieth Sabbatical, showing that seventy Sabbaticals fit into the four hundred and thirty-year scenario given to Ezekiel when using forty-nine years as the Jubilee calendar.

In Chart 2, we use a fifty-year cycle where the Jubilee year (fiftieth) is the last year of each Jubilee cycle. The thing to be noted when using this model for the Jubilee cycle is the seventy Sabbaticals do not fit within the four hundred and thirty years as given to the prophet Ezekiel.  Only sixty-eight Sabbaticals fit into the four hundred and thirty years of the vision given to Ezekiel when using fifty years as the Jubilee calendar.  This is sufficient evidence that a forty-nine-year cycle is the correct number of years contained in the Jubilee cycle.

Other evidence shown later in our studies will confirm this.  What does it matter which cycle is correct?  In Part 3 of this study pertaining to the length of time from when Adam was created to our day, you will see it does matter.  In Part 2b of this study, there are a number of interesting facts seen in those charts relating to very significant years in the time prophecies of Daniel and Revelation.

The Jubilee calendar shows the close relationship between what Jeremiah was shown for the Jews who were to be in Babylonian captivity for seventy years, what Ezekiel was shown pertaining to the four hundred and thirty years, and what Elohim told the children of Israel through Moses would happen if they violated the Sabbaticals.  Nothing is just happenstance with Elohim.  There are principles to be discovered that are of Divine origin that Elohim would have us understand in these last days of earth’s history, and He wants us to know where we stand in reference to the close of time before Yahushua returns.
