GLOBAL  IMPACT  STUDIES

If you find the truth, will you believe it?

If any man desires to do God's will, he will have the needed illumination to recognize, and can tell for himself whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking from myself and on my own accord.  John 7:17

October 22, 1844?

“Truth is eternal, and conflict with error will only make manifest its strength. We should never refuse to examine the Scriptures with those who, we have reason to believe, desire to know what is truth. Suppose a brother held a view that differed from yours, and he should come to you, proposing that you sit down with him and make an investigation of that point in the Scriptures; should you rise up, filled with prejudice, and condemn his ideas, while refusing to give him a candid hearing? The only right way would be to sit down as Christians and investigate the position presented in the light of God's word, which will reveal truth and unmask error. To ridicule his ideas would not weaken his position in the least if it were false, or strengthen your position if it were true. If the pillars of our faith will not stand the test of investigation, it is time that we knew it. There must be no spirit of Pharisaism cherished among us.  {TM 107.2, emphasis added}

It was never my intention to place myself at odds with any specific denomination when I began my studies twenty-nine years ago.  In my studies of Daniel and Revelation, I had set aside all of my preconceived opinions and attempted to learn purely from the Word of Elohim, with the Spirit of Elohim guiding me in my studies as promised in John 16:13, what is being shown in those two books.  There will always be a conflict between truth and error; light and darkness.

I began my studies as the result of reading a chapter in a book by Ellen White entitled Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers pp 112-119 in which Ellen White encourages the members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church to study the books of Daniel and Revelation.  There will be quotes from this resource at the end of this article.  I would encourage all those who are able to read it in its entirety and see what she told the SDA Church membership to do over a hundred years ago and what would be the results of studying those two books.  I have followed her counsel for the last twenty-nine years.

I have discovered through the years if one is not searching for the truth, one will not find the truth.  “Seek and you shall find” (Matt. 7:7).  And only the Spirit of Elohim can open the truth of His Word to our minds.  “Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come” (John 16:13).  I have clung to this promise for twenty-nine years and have not been disappointed in my search for truth.  “Elohim is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: hath He said, and shall He not do it? or hath He spoken, and shall He not make it good?” (Num. 23:19).  “Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” (Eph. 3:20).

I find the vast majority are content (lukewarm-comfortable) with what they have been taught (Laodicea’s problem) and do not care to or dare to question those who are in authority.  Jeremiah 5:31 describes what is going on.  “The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and My people love to have it so: and what will you do in the end thereof?” (emphasis added).

There are few who are willing to be an Elijah and, if need be, become “a troubler of Israel” (1 Kings 18:17, emphasis added).  Very few follow what is written in 2 Timothy 2:15.  “Study to show thyself approved unto Elohim, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”  In the end, people will find themselves deceived and ashamed for placing their salvation in the hands of others instead of taking responsibility to study for themselves!

I am going to list six reasons why October 22, 1844, is not the Day of Atonement as taught within the Seventh-day Adventist denomination.  Please, at least give me a fair hearing as the Bereans did with Paul as Ellen White counsels you to do.

The first reason is what Ellen White told the SDA denomination found in 3 Selected Messages page 436.  “Solemn events before us are yet to transpire (future).  Trumpet after trumpet is to be sounded (future); vial after vial poured out one after another upon the inhabitants of the earth. Scenes of stupendous interest are right upon us.”  In this statement, we can see Ellen White put the trumpets of Revelation in the future and not in the past.

For the entire history of the SDA denomination, the trumpets of Revelation have been put in the past, and they continue to do so even today.  These things were not studied out by the founding fathers of the SDA denomination, but their understandings were simply assumed to be correct and have continued to be built upon by those within the SDA denomination.

One should have a firm foundation on which to build or your house will come tumbling down on you.  You want the foundation you are building on to be the solid rock of Elohim’s Word and not on the sinking sand of men’s opinions (traditions) unfounded in the Word of Elohim.  “And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock” (Matt. 7:25, emphasis added).

A vast majority of SDAs, I hope, still believe what is pictured in Revelation chapter seven pertaining to the sealing of the 144,000 is still in the future.  “And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.  And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living Elohim: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our Elohim in their foreheads.  And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel” (Rev. 7:1-4, emphasis added).

According to these verses the earth, the sea, and the trees could not be hurt until the 144,000 are sealed.  In Revelation 8:7-12, the very things that could not be harmed until the 144,000 are sealed will be harmed as pictured in the first four trumpets of Revelation.  “The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.  And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; and the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.  And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; and the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.  And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise” (emphasis added).

If you believe the 144,000 are going to be sealed in the future, then it stands to reason you should believe the first four trumpets pictured in Revelation chapter eight are also in the future.  The other three trumpets of Revelation are also in the future and not in the past.

If you were to examine the interpretations of the trumpets as the SDAs explain them, you would see these are “private interpretations” that are not to be allowed according to Peter.  “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation” (2 Pet. 1:20).

“He (Zwingli) submitted himself to the Bible as the word of God, the only sufficient, infallible rule. He saw that it must be its own interpreter. He dared not attempt to explain Scripture to sustain a preconceived theory or doctrine, but held it his duty to learn what is its direct and obvious teaching. He sought to avail himself of every help to obtain a full and correct understanding of its meaning, and he invoked the aid of the Holy Spirit, which would, he declared, reveal it to all who sought it in sincerity and with prayer” (Great Controversy p. 173, emphasis added).  Clearly, the trumpets are still in the future!

Reason #2.  Daniel 12:4, 9 make it clear the book of Daniel was to be sealed until “the time of the end.”  “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book [not just one chapter], even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased” (Dan. 12:4, emphasis added).  “And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end” (Dan. 12:9, emphasis added).

And in Daniel chapter eight, we find these words, “And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.  So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision” (Dan. 8:16, 17, emphasis added).

This is what Ellen White said about this verse in Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers.  “The light that Daniel received from God was given especially for these last days. The visions he saw by the banks of the Ulai and the Hiddekel, the great rivers of Shinar, are now in process of fulfillment, and all the events foretold will soon [future] come to pass.” {TM 112-113, emphasis added}  She puts Daniel 8:16-17 in the future.  She would be called a futurist within the SDA Corporation today!

SDAs get around this by saying, “We have been at the time of the end since 1844.”  So have we been at “the time of the end” for the last one hundred and seventy-nine years?  “The time of the end” is at “the time of the end” and will only last for approximately one thousand three hundred and twelve days and not one hundred seventy-eight years.  It was not necessary for any other generation to know and understand what the last generation, our generation, now living will know and understand.

“And He said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in His own power” (Acts 1:7).  Yahushua was talking specifically to His apostles.  Elohim works on a need-to-know basis.  “Verily I say unto you, This generation [the generation now alive] shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled” (Matt. 24:34, emphasis added).  All the things mentioned in Matthew chapter twenty-four are for the last generation and are not going to take two hundred and sixty-eight years to be fulfilled as taught within the SDA Corporation.

Reason #3.  In Revelation chapters eleven, fifteen, and sixteen, we have verses that point out when the Day of Atonement truly does take place.  The first verse, or at least the first half of the verse of Revelation 11:19, is one SDAs use to support their view that the Day of Atonement took place in 1844.  “And the temple of Elohim was opened in heaven, and there was seen in His temple the ark of His testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail” (Rev. 11:19, emphasis added).

The only time that “the ark of His testament” was seen was on the Day of Atonement when the high priest went into the holy of holies to minister on that day.  There are at least two problems with understanding that this took place in 1844.

First, as has already been shown is the trumpets of Revelation are in the future and not in the past.  What we read in Revelation 11:19 is taking place during the sounding of the seventh angel.  “And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Yahuwah, and of His Messiah; and He shall reign for ever and ever” (Rev. 11:15).  Where in the seventh trumpet is what we read in Revelation 11:19 taking place?

The “earthquake” being described in Revelation 11:19 accompanied by “lightnings, and voices, and thunderings . . . and great hail” is the same earthquake being described in Revelation 16:17-21 which we all believe is still in the future.  “And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.  And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great . . . And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed Elohim because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great” (Rev 16:17-21, emphasis added).

Let me ask this question.  Was there an “earthquake” accompanied by “voices, thunderings, lightnings,” and “hail” on October 22, 1844?  Read all of Revelation 11:19 and not just the part that supposedly fits your scenario that you have been taught but have never studied out for yourself.

In Revelation chapter fifteen, we find the following verses:  “And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened:  and the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles.  And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of Elohim, who lives for ever and ever.  And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of Elohim, and from His power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.” (Rev: 15:5-8, emphasis added).

Compare what is said in these verses to what we find in Leviticus 16:16-17.  “And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remains among them in the midst of their uncleanness.  And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goes in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel” (emphasis added). Revelation chapter fifteen is taking place at “the time of the end” with a group of individuals “that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand[ing] on the sea of glass, having the harps of Elohim” (Rev. 15:2).  Can you see the atonement is taking place during the seventh plague of Revelation chapter sixteen?

The next event on the Day of Atonement was taking the scapegoat into the wilderness which is pictured for us in Revelation chapter twenty where Satan is confined to this earth for one thousand years which has been turned into a wilderness.  See Jeremiah 4:23-27 and Leviticus 16:16-21.

Reason #4.  When did the Feast of Trumpets and the Feast of Tabernacles take place back in 1844?  All the Spring Feast Days at the first coming were fulfilled on the very day they occurred in the Biblical Calendar.  Why not the Fall Feast Days?  Some say we are living in the anti-typical Day of Atonement.  Was the Day of Atonement a period of time or a specific date?  Just as what was foreshadowed in the Spring Feast Days was fulfilled on the very day of the Biblical calendar, so should the Fall Feast Days be fulfilled on their respective days?  The Day of Atonement is a day and not a period of time!

Reason #5.  SDAs also teach the judgment of humanity began on October 22, 1844.  Where is the Scripture evidence sustaining that belief?  If you were to study Daniel chapter seven, you would discover the judgment began in AD 1798 and not in AD 1844.  “And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.  But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end” (Daniel 7:25-26, emphasis added).

In the books of Daniel and Revelation, heavenly events are attached to earthly events, so we might know what is going on in heaven and the timing of those events.  “The judgment shall sit” at the time the “little horn’s dominion is taken away” was in AD 1798.  Ellen White told us we can follow Yahushua’s High Priest ministry in heaven.  How are we to do that?  By seeing that heavenly events are attached to earthly events.  In Acts of the Apostles, Ellen White tells us when Yahushua was inaugurated as the High Priest the Spirit of Elohim was poured out upon His people on the earth at Pentecost.  A heavenly event was attached to an earthly event.

And lastly, Reason #6. The wrong calendar was used by William Miller and his associates.  In determining the October 22, 1844, date for the Day of Atonement for that year, William Miller and his associates used the Karaite Calendar that was a Lunar-solar calendar that used the first visible crescent of the moon for determining the new moon for the beginning of the month.

Upon further study of the Biblical Lunar-solar calendar, since that time, it has been determined it is the full moon that is the New Moon for each month and not the first visible crescent or the conjunction that is to be used for determining when a new month begins.  The following is my study on the beginning of the month.

When “Elohim said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from night.” He “made two great lights; the greater light [the sun] to rule the day, and the lesser light [the moon] to rule the night” (Gen. 1:14, 16, emphasis added).  He “made two great lights.”  He did not make just one light.

We see only one light in the sky at the present time, but this was not the way it was in the beginning, and it will not be the way it will be when Elohim recreates the heavens and the earth.  “For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth” (Isa. 65:17).  At the present time, the moon is only a reflection of the sun’s light.  John who wrote the Revelation says this:  “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth:  for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea” (Rev. 21:1, emphasis added).

Isaiah gives us some clarification of what the heavens will be like when the heavens are made anew in Isaiah 30:26.  “Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days” (emphasis added).  Is this how the sun and the moon were in the beginning when Yahuwah Elohim Almighty “made two great lights?”

When the astronauts came back from the moon they brought back with them rocks from the surface of the moon that were igneous; rocks that had once been on fire.

Most of us breeze right through the story of Creation contained in Genesis chapter one without giving it much serious and prayerful thought, and by doing so we miss subjects of great interest to the student of the Bible.  On day two of the Creation account “Elohim made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament:  and it was so” (Gen. 1:7).

Where are “the waters which were above the firmament” at now?  At the present time, they are upon the surface of the earth and are not above the firmament.  “And the windows of heaven were opened.  And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights” (Gen. 7:11-12).

What is described in Genesis 1:6, 7 is much different than what we see now.  From Creation until the flood “there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground” (Gen. 2:6).  It did not rain until the time of the flood.

This planet went through a great transformation at the time of the flood!  Let us say the sun was seven times brighter and hotter than it is now and the moon was like the sun in brightness and heat.  Can you imagine how much hotter and brighter it would be on planet Earth if that was so, unless . . . ?   The water “above the firmament” surrounded the entire planet and acted as a conductor of the heat of the sun and the moon and circulated it to all parts of the globe evenly so the climate in every part of the globe was a constant comfortable temperature 24/7, 365 days a year.  The firmament also diminished the brightness of the two heavenly bodies.  There were no polar ice caps prior to the flood!

The account of the flood recorded in Genesis chapters seven and eight tells us from “the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep [were] broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened” . . . “and the waters returned from off the earth continually:  and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated.  And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month” (Gen. 7:11, 8:3, 4).

At the time of the flood and probably since the creation account in Genesis there were thirty days in each month which is why when prophetic time is used, it uses three hundred and sixty days for a year.  Thirty days per month times twelve months equals three hundred and sixty days.

Today, there are either twenty-nine or thirty days in each month when the Biblical Lunar-solar calendar is used.  There can be as many as three months with twenty-nine or thirty days in a row but there are never five consecutive months with thirty days in each month.  Did a shift in the axis or rotation of the moon or the earth occur at the time of the flood?  With all that water now upon the earth, that had been above the firmament, the weight may have been unequally distributed for a time causing a shift.

We know at the time of creation the moon was a light itself and was not a reflection of the sun’s light.  When the earth is made new along with the heavens, the sun will be seven times brighter and hotter than it is today, and the moon will be as the sun is today for brightness and heat.  See Isaiah 30:26.

The water will once again be above the firmament as at the beginning of creation in order to shield the earth from the brightness and heat of the sun and the moon shining in all their glory

There will be no phases of the moon as there are today.  There were no phases of the moon from the time of creation to the time of the flood because Elohim “made two great lights” (Gen. 1:16); not just one.

Today, the new moon day is determined when the sun sets in the west and is followed by the moon rising in the east.  It is the only night the moon rules the night because it is in the sky from just after sunset to sunrise (Gen. 1:16).  This is the way it was determined in the beginning, is the way it is to be determined today, and is how it will be determined when the earth and the heavens are made new.

The new moon day is always determined by observation and not by any calculations, although NASA’s calculations are spot on when showing the sun sets and the moon rises are in agreement with the observation of the sun setting in the west and the moon rising in the east.

For those observing the new moon day by the first visible crescent, there was no crescent moon when Elohim first created the moon as a light; it was a light itself (Gen. 1:16).  The crescent moon has always been associated with the goddess Semiramis from ancient Babylon, and we are told to “Come out of her [Babylon], My people” (Rev. 18:4).  It is the counterfeit Satan has promoted to take away from the worship of Elohim and was used by the pagans in opposition to the full moon used by the followers of Elohim from creation until the fourth century AD when Hillel II, the last president of the Jewish council, was forced to submit to Emperor Constantine who fixed the Sabbath to the seventh-day of the Roman calendar (Saturday) and abandoned the Lunar-solar calendar of the Bible.

When using the first visible crescent as the new moon, there are two days on the earth that this takes place and not just a single day as when the full moon is used as the new moon.

Bring your proof from the Bible showing evidence from the Scriptures the first visible crescent is what Psalm 104:19 is saying.  “He appointed the moon for seasons [mow’ed].”  The moon, the woman pictured in Revelation 12:1 is standing on, is the full moon.  If it were a crescent moon it would be how Semiramis is pictured standing on a crescent moon.

For those using the conjunction for the new moon day, I ask, “How do you observe no moon and still call it the new moon?”  Once again, I cite Genesis 1:14, 16:  “Elohim said, Let there be lights [plural] in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night.”  He “made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night” (emphasis added). If there is no moon in the sky at night when the conjunction occurs, how does the moon rule the night?

The fact the Bible states clearly when “Elohim said, Let there be lights [plural] in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night” He “made two [not one] great lights; the greater [the sun] to rule the day, and the lesser light [the moon] to rule the night” (Gen. 1:14, 16, emphasis added).  There were no phases of the moon and there certainly was never a conjunction of the moon in the beginning at the time of creation until the flood when the moon was put out and the sun was reduced in output to one-seventh of its original strength.

When Yahuwah recreates the heavens and the earth and causes the sun to be seven times brighter and the moon to be as the sun, there will once again be a full moon at all times without any phases.  “Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days” (Isa. 30:26, emphasis added).

I conclude this study with a number of quotes from the pages of Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers that I first cited at the beginning of this article.

“The light that Daniel received from God was given especially for these last days. The visions he saw by the banks of the Ulai and the Hiddekel, the great rivers of Shinar, are now in process of fulfillment, and all the events foretold will soon [future] come to pass.” {TM 112-113, emphasis added}.  This reference is talking about Daniel chapter eight specifically.

“The very name ‘Revelation’ contradicts the statement that it is a sealed book.  ‘Revelation’ means that something of importance is revealed. The truths of this book are addressed to those living in these last days. We are standing with the veil removed in the holy place of sacred things. We are not to stand without. We are to enter, not with careless, irreverent thoughts, not with impetuous footsteps, but with reverence and godly fear. We are nearing the time when [all] the prophecies of the book of Revelation are to be fulfilled. . . . {TM 113, emphasis added}  I am fearful that when people read what Ellen White wrote they will call her a futurist!

The Lord will bless all who will seek humbly and meekly to understand that which is revealed in the Revelation.  [Those who will not seek will not find.] This book contains so much that is large with immortality and full of glory that all who read and search it earnestly receive the blessing to those "that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein."  {TM 114.4, emphasis added}  Most are content with what they have been taught and no longer study.

“Daniel stood in his lot to bear his testimony which was sealed until the time of the end, when the first angel's message should be [future] proclaimed to our world. These matters are of infinite importance in these last days; but while ‘many shall be purified, and made white, and tried,’ ‘the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand.’ How true this is! Sin is the transgression of the law of God; and those who will not accept the light in regard to the law of God will not understand the proclamation of the first, second, and third angel's messages. The book of Daniel is unsealed in the revelation to John, and carries us forward to the last scenes of this earth's history.” {TM 115.3, emphasis added}  It is interesting she sees the first angel’s message is yet to be proclaimed along with the second and third angels!

“Will our brethren bear in mind that we are living amid the perils of the last days? Read Revelation in connection with Daniel. Teach these things.” {TM 115.4}

As we near the close of this world's history, the prophecies relating to the last days especially demand our study. The last book of the New Testament Scriptures is full of truth that we need to understand. Satan has blinded the minds of many so that they have been glad of any excuse for not making the Revelation their study. But Christ through His servant John has here declared what shall be in the last days; and He says, "Blessed is he that reads, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein." {TM 116-117, emphasis added}

“We do not go deep enough in our search for truth. Every soul who believes present truth will be brought where he will be required to give a reason of the hope that is in him. The people of God will be called upon to stand before kings, princes, rulers, and great men of the earth, and they must know that they do know what is truth. They must be converted men and women. God can teach you more in one moment by His Holy Spirit than you could learn from the great men of the earth. [Amen!] The universe is looking upon the controversy that is going on upon the earth. At an infinite cost, God has provided for every man an opportunity to know that which will make him wise unto salvation. How eagerly do angels look to see who will avail himself of this opportunity! When a message is presented to God's people, they should not rise up in opposition to it; they should go to the Bible, comparing it with the law and the testimony, and if it does not bear this test, it is not true. God wants our minds to expand. He desires to put His grace upon us. We may have a feast of good things every day, for God can open the whole treasure of heaven to us.--Review and Herald, February 18, 1890 {TM 119, emphasis added}

“Anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see” (Rev. 3:18).

“We have many lessons to learn, and many, many to unlearn. God and Heaven alone are infallible. Those who think that they will never have to give up a cherished view, never have occasion to change an opinion, will be disappointed. As long as we hold to our own ideas and opinions with determined persistency, we cannot have the unity for which Christ prayed.” {CET 203.2, emphasis added}

“When a brother receives new light upon the Scriptures, he should frankly explain his position [which is what I have now done], and every minister should search the Scriptures with the spirit of candor to see if the points presented can be substantiated by the inspired word.  "The servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth." 2 Timothy 2:24, 25. {CET 203.3, emphasis added}

“Those who eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of God will bring from the books of Daniel and Revelation truth that is inspired by the Holy SpiritThey will start into action forces that cannot be repressed.” {TM 116.1, emphasis added}
