GLOBAL  IMPACT  STUDIES

If you find the truth, will you believe it?

If any man desires to do God's will, he will have the needed illumination to recognize, and can tell for himself whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking from myself and on my own accord.  John 7:17

The Phases of the Moon

and the Plan of Salvation

“The heavens declare the glory of Elohim; and the firmament shewth His handywork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night shows knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their

words to the end of the world” (Psalm 19:1-4).  What is spoken in the heavens is spoken to every living person on planet Earth and in a language that each person can  understand in their native tongue who have eyes to see and have ears to hear.  "Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not” (Jeremiah 5:21).  Just because Elohim has placed things in the heavens in order to communicate with us does not always guarantee that His message is getting through to us. Most do not observe the heavens and try to discern what they are saying to us even though they are continuously speaking to us.  “Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.”

Sometimes things do not make sense to us until we reach a point in our lives that we have an interest in learning.  Most do not have an understanding because “the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of Elohim:  for they are foolishness unto him:  neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Corinthians 2:14). Unless one is open to the Spirit of Elohim Which alone guides us into all truth (John 16:13), many things that Elohim would have us to know remain a mystery to our understanding.

What do the heavens tell us?  I am sure they tell us many things, but the one thing that has taken on a new significance for myself are the phases of the moon and what they are saying to us about Elohim’s plan of salvation.  Nearly twelve years ago (December 2009) I first became aware of something called the Lunar-solar Calendar.  When I was first introduced to this subject, I remember telling my friend who introduced this subject to me that I believed there was much to know and that our understanding on this matter would grow and may change and so it has. At first, I observed the first visible crescent as the beginning of the month or the New Moon, but evidence, as I continued to study, showed that this was not correct.  I have observed the full moon as the new moon for the last nine years. See our study on the Beginning of the Month by clicking on the shaded area.

There is not a great deal of evidence from the Scriptures to sustain the first visible crescent and some observe the conjunction of the moon as the New Moon, as the U.S. Naval Observatory does. But in using the full moon as the new moon I have come to the realization that it reveals Elohim's plan of salvation for humanity which neither the first visible crescent does nor does the conjunction when either one is used to determine the New Moon.  When the full moon is taken to be the new moon, it speaks to the entire world during its monthly cycle of Yahuwah's plan of salvation for humanity.

When man was originally created by Yahuwah, he was created in the image of Elohim “fully” reflecting the glory or character of Yahuwah.  Just as the moon now has no light of its own and reflects the light of the sun so it is with humanity.  Humanity exhibited the full glory of Yahuwah in the beginning.  Originally humanity was made in the image and likeness of Yahuwah (Genesis 1:26).  “That was the true Light, which lights every man that cometh into the world” (John 1:9).  When man fell and as time passed, he began to reveal less and less of the character of our Creator just as the moon reveals less and less of the light of the sun during the “waning” phases of the moon.

When humanity had sunk to its lowest depths, Yahushua came to this earth to redeem humanity.  “And the light shines in the darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not” (John 1:5).  Humanity had reached the conjunction phase of the moon; total darkness.  When Yahushua was crucified, darkness covered the earth during the solar eclipse which lasted for three hours as predicted by the prophet Amos.  “And it shall come to pass in that day, saith Yahuwah Elohim, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day” (Amos 8:9).  “Now the sixth hour there was darkness over the land unto the ninth hour” (Matthew 27:45).

A solar eclipse can only occur during the conjunction phase of the moon. It lasted for three hours because Elohim has the ability to make the sun and moon stand still just as He did during the Old Testament times.   “And spake Joshua to Yahuwah in the day when Yahuwah delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.  And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies . . . So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, [and the moon stood still also] and hasted not to go down about a whole day.  And there was no day like that before it or after it [until the day when Yahushua was crucified], that Yahuwah hearkened unto the voice of a man:  for Yahuwah fought for Israel” (Joshua 10:12-14, emphasis added).  At the time of the crucifixion the sun and the moon were stayed until Yahushua had defeated Satan.  “And I will put enmity between thee (Satan) and the woman (Elohim’s people), and between thy (Satan’s) seed and her (Elohim’s people) seed; it (the crucifixion of Messiah) shall bruise thy (Satan’s) head, and thou (Satan) shall bruise His (Messiah’s) heel” (Genesis 3:15).  One was a deadly wound and the other was a temporary wound.

From the time of Messiah down to the days in which we are living, Elohim has been “renewing” His character in the lives of His people.  “But we all, with open face [just as the moon does] beholding the glory [character] of Yahuwah, are changed into the same image from glory to glory [represented by the waxing phases of the moon], even as by the Spirit of Yahuwah” (2 Corinthians 3:18) until man is fully restored back into the likeness of His Creator, fully “reflecting” the glory of the Creator, just as the moon does when it returns to its full moon phase once again, reflecting the glory of the sun!

“Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. [Just as the moon shines forth in its full glory ‘as the sun,' so the righteous will be reflecting the full glory (character) of the Father.] Who hath ears to hear, let him hear” (Matthew 13:43).

Each month when one observes the full moon as the New Moon, Yahuwah’s plan of salvation is told over and over again to the inhabitants of planet Earth in all the languages of humanity that only the Spirit of Elohim can speak.  “Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night shows knowledge [the knowledge of the plan of salvation].  There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard” (Psalm 19:2-3). Just as the Spirit of Elohim gave the Apostles the ability to speak other languages than their own, so the Spirit of Elohim speaks to each person in their native tongue by what He has placed in the heavens in order to communicate with all of humanity the plan of salvation!   But we must have “ears to hear.” “But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of Elohim: for they are foolishness unto him:  neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Corinthians 2:14).  Only the “Spirit of Truth” (Spirit of Elohim) can show us the truths in spiritual matters (John 16:13).

When man was first created, He revealed the "image and likeness" of Elohim.  After man fell He could only reflect Elohim's likeness through the indwelling of the Spirit of Elohim.  He did not have capability, in and of himself, to do this.  So it was with the "moon" when it was first created.  In the beginning we are told in Genesis 1:16, "Elohim made two great lights" (emphasis added).  He did not make just the one great light, but He "made two great lights."  There is only one great light in the sky today and that is the sun.  The moon is not now a light, in and of itself, though I believe in the beginning and until the flood it was a light that shone in the heavens without any need of the sun.  The astronauts who went to the moon brought back with them samples of rocks from the moon.  Those rocks are igneous rocks which means at one time they had been on fire.

He also "divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament."  Today the earth is not surrounded by water held above the firmament.  When "the windows of heaven were opened" at the time of the flood, that water came upon the earth and created the great oceans we have on the surface of the earth today.  Before the flood we are told that "there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground" (Genesis 2:6).

We are told that when Elohim creates a new heavens and a new earth that "moreover the light of moon shall be as the light of the sun [as it now is], and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days [or seven times brighter and hotter than it now is]" (Isaiah 30:26).  I believe this is how it was in the beginning when Elohim created the "two great lights."  With a film of water that stretched around the entire globe, the sun and moon heated up that band of water and the heat was conducted evenly through the entire earth.  If the moon and sun were as they were in the beginning and without the band of water to absorb their energy, they would scorch the earth, so Elohim put out the moon and reduced the sun's energy.

Great changes took place at the time of the flood during Noah's days.  Another change that took place is the number of days there are in each month.  Prior to the flood there were 30 days in each month.  "In the six hundredth year of Noah's lfe, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened" (Genesis 7:11). "And the waters returned from off the earth continually:  and after the end of of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated.  And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat (Genesis 8:3-4).  There were 150 days between the seventeenth day of the second month and the seventeenth day of the seventh month.  150 days divided by 5 months equal 30 days per month.  Today there are either 29 or 30 days in each Biblical month of the Lunar-solar calendar.

There are those who observe the conjunction or the first visible crescent of the moon as being the new moon each month.  We can see that in the beginning there was only a full moon because it was a light in and of itself.  It did not have phases in which we see it today.  So today the full moon is the new moon just as it was in the beginning and when the sun sets in the west and the moon then rises in the east it is the beginning of the new moon day just as in the beginning!  The sun rules during the day and the moon in its fullness rules the night, and it marks the beginning of each new month.  The feast days, the Sabbaths and the new moon days were all days on which Elohim desired to meet with His people and still does.

"Speak unto the children of Israel [Are you a part of spiritual Israel?], and say unto them, Concerning the feasts [mow'ed - appointed times] of Yahuwah, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are My feasts [mow'ed]" (Leviticus 23:2, emphasis added).  Elohim still meets with His people on these "holy convocations," and He is looking forward to meeting with each of you on those days which He appointed and not according to the days appointed by man.
