GLOBAL  IMPACT  STUDIES

If you find the truth, will you believe it?

If any man desires to do God's will, he will have the needed illumination to recognize, and can tell for himself whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking from myself and on my own accord.  John 7:17

Chapter 5

Biblical Distinctions Between the Father and the Son

Yahushua never claimed to be the Almighty Elohim.  Everything He said about Himself indicates that He did not consider Himself equal to Elohim in any way . . . not in power, authority, knowledge or age.

In every period of His existence, whether in heaven or on earth, His words and conduct reflect subordination to Elohim.  Yahuwah is the senior, or Father.  Yahushua is the junior, or Son.  Elohim is always superior.  Yahushua is the lesser one who was begotten by Yahuwah the Father (Colossians 1:15; Revelation 3:14).

Yahushua distinguished from Elohim the Father

1.    Yahushua and the Father are Two Entities

Yahushua speaks about the testimony of two persons.  “It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.  I am one bear witness of Myself, AND the Father that sent Me beareth witness of Me” (John 8:17-18).  That is the testimony of TWO! Yahushua is one witness.  The Father is the other witness.  They are two separate entities.

2.    Yahushua Prayed to His Father in Heaven

Yahushua did not pray to Himself.  He prayed to His Heavenly Father who was in heaven above.  “These words spake Yahushua, and lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify Thy Son, that Thy Son also may glorify Thee” (John 17:1).  In praying, Yahushua acknowledged His Father to be “the only true Elohim” (John 17:3).  In teaching His disciples how to pray, Yahushua told them to pray “Our Father which art in heaven” (Matthew 6:9).

3. Yahushua Had to go Back to Heaven to be With His Father and His Elohim

Yahushua said to Mary, “Touch Me not; for I am not yet ascended to My Father:  but go to My brethren and say unto them, I ascend unto My Father, and your Father; and to My Elohim, and your Elohim” (John 20:17).  Since Yahushua had an Elohim and Father over Him, and since He had to ascend to heaven to be with His Elohim and Father . . . therefore, Yahushua could not be that Elohim.  They are two distinct entities.  While Yahushua was on earth . . . His Elohim and Father was in heaven.  Seven times in the Gospel of Matthew Yahushua speaks about “MY FATHER WHICH IS IN HEAVEN” (Matthew 7:21; 10:32, 33; 12:50; 16:17; 18:10, 19).  Surely these Scriptures show that Yahushua and His Father in heaven are TWO separate entities.

4.     Yahushua Sits at the Right Hand of Elohim

Yahushua today since His ascension back to heaven sits at the right hand of Elohim.  “Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His [Elohim's] person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty [Elohim] on high” (Hebrews 1:3). Yahushua sitting at Elohim’s right hand indicates that there are TWO entities in heaven . . . Elohim and His Son who sits at His right hand.  An interesting Scripture is found in Psalms 110:1:  “Yahuwah said unto My Lord [David’s Lord . . . Yahushua], Sit Thou at My right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.”  TWO separate entities are seen in this verse.  Yahuwah invites the other Lord (which in the KJV is in lower case letters indicating it is not talking about Yahuwah which is always in upper case letters when it was translated into the KJV) to sit at His right hand.  Peter quotes this verse on the day of Pentecost and applies it to Yahushua being exalted to the Father’s right hand (Acts 2:33-35).

In Acts 7, we have the account of the death of Stephen . . . the first Christian martyr.  As Stephen was dying, he looked up to heaven “and saw the glory of Elohim, and Yahushua standing on the right hand of Elohim.  And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man [Yahushua] standing on the right hand of Elohim” (Acts 7:55-56).  Stephen, in his vision, saw TWO entities in heaven . . . Elohim and His Son standing on His right hand.

Again in Revelation chapter five, we see TWO entities in heaven.  Elohim the Father is seen sitting upon His throne.  Then One likened to a Lamb (Yahushua Messiah . . . Elohim’s Son) approaches the throne and takes the seven-sealed book (or scroll) from the right hand of Him Who sits upon the throne (Revelation 5:1-7).  Here again we see TWO entities in heaven . . . Elohim, the Father, and Yahushua Messiah, His Son.  See also Daniel 7:13 where these same two entities are seen.

5.     Yahushua Said No One Is Good but Elohim

In Mark 10:18, “Yahushua said unto him, Why callest thou Me good?  There is none good but One, that is, Elohim."  Elohim is good in a way that separates Him even from Yahushua, His Son.  Yahushua could have sinned and become disloyal to Yahuwah.  But Yahuwah can never sin . . . it is an impossibility with Him.  Yahushua was tempted of the devil, but Elohim cannot be tempted (James 1:13); therefore, Elohim and Yahushua are TWO separate entities.

6.     Yahushua Came To Do His Father’s Will

Yahushua said, “For I came down from heaven, not to do Mine Own will, but the will of Him that sent Me” (John 6:38).  TWO wills are here mentioned because Yahushua and the Father are TWO separate entities.  Notice that Yahushua was sent by the Father, and the sender is always superior to the one sent.  Also, Yahushua said, “The Son can do nothing of Himself” (John 5:19).  The Son was totally dependent upon the Father for His power, His authority . . . and even His very existenceYahuwah's name means THE Eternal Self-existent One!  Yahushua further stated:  “My doctrine [or teaching] is not Mine, but His that sent Me” (John 7:16).  How could He then be equal to the Father? Yahushua was Elohim’s obedient servant . . . not Elohim’s equal.  See Isaiah 42:1; Matthew 12:18.

7.      Elohim Speaks From Heaven At Messiah’s Baptism

When Yahushua was baptized, the Father spoke from heaven saying: “This is My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17).  Was Elohim saying He was His own Son? . . . that He approved of Himself?  Certainly not!  Elohim, the Supreme Being, was saying that He as the superior approved of His Son, the lesser One.  TWO separate entities are plainly in view here.  Elohim, the Father, speaks from heaven. Yahushua Messiah, His Son, was on the earth being baptized by John.  The Spirit of Elohim which is the invisible force of the Father . . . took the visible form of a dove . . . so John could tell the people witnessing the event that Yahushua was being anointed with the Holy Spirit of Yahuwah.  See John 1:31-34.

8.      Yahushua Was Anointed By A Greater One

Yahushua was anointed by One greater than Himself.  “But unto the Son, He [Yahuwah] saith, Thy throne, O God, [Yahuwah here calls His Son a God] is for ever and ever:  a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Thy kingdom.  Thou [Yahushua] hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore Elohim [Yahuwah], even Thy Elohim [the Son’s Elohim] hath anointed Thee with the oil of gladness above Thy fellows” (Hebrews 1:8-9).  There are TWO entities described in these verses . . . both are called God . . . but one is greater than the other.  “The less is blessed of the better [or greater . . . Amplified Bible]” (Hebrews 7:7).   Anointing is the giving of power and authority by a superior to someone who does not already have it.  Elohim is plainly the superior, for He anointed Yahushua giving Him power and authority that He did not previously have.  See Luke 4:18; John 3:34; Acts 10:38.

9.      Yahushua Was Given All Power After His Resurrection

After Messiah arose from the dead, He stated:  “All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth” (Matthew 28:18).  Who gave Him this power and authority?  How could He then be equal to the One who gave Him this power?  Again, we see TWO entities.  A greater One bestowing power and authority on a lesser One.

10. Elohim is Superior to Yahushua in Several Ways

a.      Yahushua Could Not Grant Positions In The Coming Kingdom

The mother of James and John came to the Master requesting that her sons might sit on either side of Him in His Kingdom (Matthew 20:20-21).  Yahushua said to her, “To sit on My right hand, and on My left, is not Mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared by My Father” (Matthew 20:23).  Had Yahushua been Almighty Elohim or even His equal then these positions would have been His to give.  But Yahushua could not give them for they were the Father’s to give and Yahushua was not the Father.

b.      Yahushua Died, But Elohim Cannot Die

Elohim the Father is immortal . . . a deathless being.  See 1 Timothy 1:17 and 1 Timothy 6:16.  Immortality means “exemption from every kind of death” . . . Amplified Bible on 1 Timothy 6:16.  Yahushua “poured out His soul unto death" (Isaiah 53:12). So Elohim, the Father, and Yahushua are TWO distinct entities . . . one was incapable of dying . . . the other . . . could and did die as man’s ransom sacrifice.

c.      Yahushua Had Limited Knowledge

Yahushua said concerning His second Advent. "But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father” (Mark 13:32).  Matthew says:  “My Father only” (Matthew 24:36).  If Yahushua had been equal with the Father, He would have known the time of His return.  If He was equal, He would have known what the Father knows.  The revelation given to John in the book of the Revelation was given to Yahushua by Elohim.  “The Revelation of Yahushua Messiah, which Elohim gave unto Him, to show unto His servants things which must shortly come to pass” (Revelation 1:1).  So even after His resurrection and ascension, Yahushua did not know everything.  There were things His superior (Yahuwah) had to reveal to Him.  Only Elohim has FOREKNOWLEDGE.  "Him [Yahushua] being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of Elohim" (Acts 2:23).  "Elect according to the foreknowledge of Elohim the Father" (1 Peter 1:2).

d.     Yahushua was not Eternal

"For Elohim so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son" (John 3:16).  If Yahushua was begotten, it indicates that He has a beginning and therefore is not eternal. Elohim's name, Yahuwah, means the eternal self-existent One.

e.  In The Eternal Ages To Come, Yahushua Will Always Recognize The Father As His Superior

“Then cometh the end [at the close of the 7th Millennium], when He shall have delivered up the kingdom to Elohim, even the Father; when He shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.  For He [Yahushua] must reign, till He hath put all enemies under His feet.  The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.  For He [Yahuwah] hath put all things under His [Yahushua’s] feet.  But when He [Yahushua] saith all things are put under Him [Yahuwah], it is manifest that He [Yahuwah] is excepted, which did put all things under Him [Yahushua].  And when all things shall be subdued unto Him [Yahushua], then shall the Son also Himself be subject unto Him [Yahuwah] that put all things under Him [Yahushua], that Yahuwah may be all in all [the Supreme Ruler throughout all eternity over the entire Universe]" (1 Corinthians 15:24-28).

TWO entities are clearly seen in these verses.  Yahushua will reign as King for a thousand years (Revelation 20:1-6), and then He turns the scepter of authority back into the hands of the Father.  Yahushua will step down as King, and the kingdom will all go back under the supreme rulership of the Father.  How clear and plain these Scriptures are! Yahushua has always been subordinate to His Heavenly Father and will remain so throughout all eternity.
