GLOBAL  IMPACT  STUDIES

If you find the truth, will you believe it?

If any man desires to do God's will, he will have the needed illumination to recognize, and can tell for himself whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking from myself and on my own accord.  John 7:17

Chapter 2

Elohim (The Supreme Being) - The Father

As we begin our study on the subject of the Deity, we would like to first of all see what the Bible has to say about Yahuwah or Elohim, the Father.

The Father is the Eternal or Everlasting Elohim (God)

Yahuwah or the Father is the eternal Elohim . . . without beginning or ending.  He owes His existence to no one.  He is Yahuwah - THE ETERNAL SELF-EXISTENT ONE.

“And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the Yahuwah, the everlasting Elohim” (Genesis 21:33).

“Yahuwah, Thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever Thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, Thou art Elohim”  (Psalm 90:1-2).

“Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the everlasting Elohim, Yahuwah, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching out of His understanding” (Isaiah 40:28).

“For thus saith the High and Lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, Whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit” (Isaiah 57:15).  Notice the Bible speaks of the high and lofty One . . . not the three . . . that inhabits eternity.  There is only One Being that has inhabited eternity and that is Yahuwah, the Father.

“Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the ONLY wise Elohim, be honor and glory for ever and ever” (1 Timothy 1:17).

The Father is the Only True Elohim

Yahushua, as He prayed in John 17, recognized His Heavenly Father as the ONLY TRUE ELOHIM.  This is an extremely important Scripture in identifying WHO the True Elohim is.

“These words spoke Yahushua, and lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify Thy Son, that Thy Son also may glorify Thee . . . and this is life eternal, that they might know Thee the ONLY TRUE ELOHIM, and Yahushua Messiah, Whom Thou hast sent” (John 17:1-3). Here Yahushua acknowledges His Father as the ONLY TRUE ELOHIM.  Can we accept Yahushua's own testimony on this matter?  If we cannot accept the testimony of Yahushua, whose testimony will we receive?

“But to us there is but ONE ELOHIM, THE FATHER, of Whom are all things, and we in Him; and one Master Yahushua Messiah, by Whom are all things, and we by Him” (1 Corinthians 8:6).

There is ONLY ONE ETERNAL ELOHIM, and that is the FATHER

Elohim, the Father, is the source of everything - ”of Whom are all things."  Yahushua was the agent He used in the work of creation - ”by Whom are all things."  “Elohim . . . created all things by Yahushua Messiah” (Ephesians 3:9).  Yahushua was the agent . . . but He used Elohim’s power in doing the creative work.  Therefore Yahuwah is the Creator as Isaiah 40:28 states, because it was by His power that all things were brought into existence.

"Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, the everlasting Elohim, Yahuwah, the             Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching         of His understanding" (Isaiah 40:28).

There are many Scriptures that also state that the true Elohim is the Father…

“One Elohim and Father of all, Who is above all, and through all, and in you all” (Ephesians 4:6).  Who is in us?  We will address that later.

“Blessed be Elohim, even the Father of our Master Yahushua Messiah, the Father of mercies, and the Elohim of all comfort” (2 Corinthians 1:3).

“Therewith bless we Elohim, even the Father” (James 3:9).

“That the Elohim of our Master Yahushua Messiah, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him” (Ephesians 1:17).

“Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from Elohim the Father, and from the Master Yahushua Messiah, the Son of the Father” (2 John 3).  From this verse we see that the Father and the Master Yahushua Messiah are two separate Beings as we have seen in others also.

All the above Scriptures clearly affirm that the true Elohim is the Father, and He is also "the Father of our Master Yahushua Messiah."  Yahushua had an Elohim Who also is His Father.  When I first began to understand these things it became apparent that I had assumed some things because that is what I had been taught.  I had failed to study these subjects out for myself under the guidance of the Holy Spirit of Elohim.  When I began to study for myself under the guidance of the Spirit of Elohim, only then could I begin to understand this correctly.  “And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in Elohim, Who created all things by Yahushua Messiah” (Ephesians 3:9).  Yahushua was the Being using Elohim's power in doing the creative work.  “Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the Everlasting Elohim, Yahuwah, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of His understanding” (Isaiah 40:28).

“Yahushua saith unto her [Mary], Touch Me not; for I am not yet ascended to My Father:  but go to the brethren, and say unto them, I ascend to My Father, and to your Father; and to My Elohim, and your Elohim”  (John 20:17).

The Father is the Almighty Elohim

Yahuwah or Elohim the Father is the only SUPREME Being.  He has no rival or equal . . . for there can only be ONE ALMIGHTY ELOHIM.

“And when Abram was ninety and nine, Yahuwah appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty Elohim; walk before Me, and be thou perfect” (Genesis 17:1).

“That men may know that Thou, Whose name alone is YAHUWAH [the Eternal Self-Existent One], art the MOST HIGH OVER ALL THE EARTH” (Psalm 83:18).

“And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within:  and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, YAHUWAH ELOHIM ALMIGHTY, which was, and is, and is to come”  (Revelation 4:8).  It is Yahuwah Who is speaking in Revelation 1:8.  "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith Yahuwah, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty."

Yahushua is not the Almighty Elohim . . . the Most High . . . rather He is the “SON OF THE HIGHEST."

“And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shall call His name YAHUSHUA.  He shall be great, and shall be called the SON OF THE HIGHEST:  and Yahuwah Elohim shall give unto Him the throne of His father David [That throne as we shall see was a temporary throne as was David’s. (1 Corinthians 15:28)]:  and He shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of His kingdom there shall be no end” (Luke 1:31-33).

“And the angel answered and said unto her [Mary], the HOLY GHOST shall come upon thee, and the power of the HIGHEST [Yahuwah's Spirit] shall overshadow thee:  therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the SON OF ELOHIM" (Luke 1:35).

There are TWO entities spoken of in these Scriptures.  Yahuwah . . . the Highest Elohim . . . the Almighty . . . and Yahushua who is the Son of the HighestYahushua is not the Almighty . . . but He is the Son of the Almighty Elohim.  The Holy Ghost as described in this verse is described as “the power of the HIGHEST."  More on this will follow in a succeeding chapter.

The Father is Supreme Over All . . . Including the Son

My Father, which gave them Me, is GREATER THAN ALL” (John 10:29).

My Father is Greater than I” (John 14:28).

These are the words of Yahushua Himself.  Whose word can we trust more than His?

One Elohim and Father of all, Who is ABOVE ALL (including Yahushua)” (Ephesians 4:6).

The Head of Messiah is Elohim” (1 Corinthians  11:3).

Yahuwah is a Single, Solitary Being . . . Not One Elohim in Three Beings, But One Elohim in One Being

As we are seeing so far there appears to be what is called monotheism being taught in Scripture.  There is Only One True Elohim.  Yahushua acknowledged His Father to be “The Only True Elohim” (John 17:3).  He also acknowledged Him to be the Supreme Being, and that He was ONE . . . not two or three!

“And Yahushua answered him, The first of all commandments is, Hear, O Israel; Yahuwah our Elohim is ONE LORD:  And thou shall love Yahuwah thy Elohim with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: . . . And the scribe said unto Him, Well, Master, Thou hast said the truth:  FOR THERE IS ONE ELOHIM; AND THERE IS NONE OTHER BUT HE” (Mark 12:29-32).  Do you not think that Yahushua would have corrected him if he had answered incorrectly? Yahushua was directing the people to the worship of His Father, Yahuwah.

There are many Scriptures in both the Old and New Testament that show that Elohim is not a compound being . . . He is a SINGLE BEING . . . ONE ELOHIM IN ONE BEING.

Hear, O Israel:  Yahuwah our Elohim is ONE LORD” (Deuteronomy 6:4). Yahushua in talking with the scribe quoted this Old Testament Scripture (Mark 12:29).  And the scribe in turn affirmed that “there is ONE Eloim” . . . a single Being.  So from this can we not conclude that Yahushua taught the monotheism of the Old Testament?  He did not teach that Elohim was a compound being

“For there is ONE Elohim, and one mediator between Elohim and men, the man Messiah Yahushua” (1 Timothy 2:5).

“Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but Elohim is ONE” (Galatians 3:20).  There are always at least two parties when a mediator is involved.

“Thou believest that there is ONE Elohim; thou doest well:  the devils also believe, and tremble” (James 2:19).

The devils believe that there is only “ONE Elohim," but they do not acknowledge Yahushua to be that one true Elohim.  Rather they acknowledge Him to be the “Son of the Most High Elohim."

“And when he [the man possessed of a legion of demons] saw Yahushua, he cried out, and fell down before Him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with Thee [the evil spirit speaking], Yahushua, Thou Son of Elohim MOST HIGH? [or Son of the Most High Elohim Amplified Bible].  For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man” (Luke 8:28-29 and also Mark 3:11).

There are several Old Testament Scriptures that clearly affirm that Yahuwah is a SINGLE Being . . . not a compound Being as Trinitarians teach.

“Yahuwah of hosts, Elohim of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, THOU ART THE ELOHIM, EVEN THOU ALONE, of all the kingdoms of the earth:  Thou hast made heaven and earth” (Isaiah 37:16).

“And Hezekiah prayed before Yahuwah, and said, O Yahuwah Elohim of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, Thou art the Elohim, even Thou ALONE, of all the kingdoms of the earth; Thou hast made heaven and earth” (2 Kings 19:15).

“Thou art great, and doest wondrous things:  Thou art Elohim ALONE” (Psalms 86:10).

THOU, EVEN THOU, ART ELOHIM ALONE” (Nehemiah 9:6).

“You are My witnesses, saith Yahuwah, and My servant whom I have chosen:  that you may know and believe Me, and understand THAT I AM HE (not We):  BEFORE ME THERE WAS NO ELOHIM FORMED, NEITHER SHALL THERE BE AFTER ME.  I, EVEN I, AM YAHUWAH; and beside Me there is no savior.  I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you:  therefore you are My witnesses, saith Yahuwah, THAT I AM ELOHIM” (Isaiah 43:10-12).  “Thus saith Yahuwah the King of Israel, and His redeemer Yahuwah of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and BESIDE ME THERE IS NO ELOHIM” (Isaiah 44:6).  See Isaiah 45:5-6 also.

These Scriptures are NOT to be used to deny that Yahuwah had a Son with Him by His side . . . Whom He used as His agent in creation (Genesis 1:26).  These Scriptures simply emphasize the fact that Israel was NOT to worship a multiplicity of gods . . . they were to worship ONLY ONE SUPREME BEING … YAHUWAH.  But this eternal Elohim had a Son.  Notice what Proverbs 30:4 says:  “What is His name [Yahuwah], and what is His Son’s name [Yahushua], if thou canst tell?”  Also Elohim’s pre-existent but not eternal Son “was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him” (Proverbs 8:30).

The term “Elohim” translated “God” from the Hebrew Scriptures is a plural word.  Some Bible teachers appeal to this as proof that Elohim is a compound being.  This word is what some refer to as an “intensive plural” or the “plural majesty” and simply denotes the totality of Elohim’s majesty and power as well as His many other attributes.  It does not mean that Elohim is a compound being.  All the ancient Hebrew scholars explained the plurality of the word “Elohim” in this way.

The Father Has Inherent Immortality

Only Yahuwah originally and inherently possessed immortality.  Immortality means “NOT SUBJECT TO DEATH."  Yahuwah has life within Himself.  He does not depend on any outside life support system.  Death is an impossibility with Him . . . He is exempt from every kind of death.

“The Father has life in Himself” (John 5:26).

“Now unto the King eternal [Yahuwah], immortal, invisible, the only wise Elohim, be honor and glory forever and ever” (1 Timothy 1:17).

WHO ONLY HATH IMMORTALITY [in the sense of exemption from every kind of death” Amplified Bible], dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see:  to Whom be honor and power everlasting” (1 Timothy 6:16).

Yahuwah or the Father has always possessed immortality as an inherent part of His nature. Yahushua, Elohim’s Son, did not receive immortality until His resurrection from the dead . . . otherwise He could not have died as our ransom sacrifice.  The Scriptures tell us that Yahushua “poured out His soul unto death” (Isaiah 53:12).  So He was not an immortal being until after His resurrection.

“Knowing that Messiah being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over Him” (Romans 6:9).  It did prior to His death.

“I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore” (Revelation 1:18).  He now has immortality!

TODAY . . . there are TWO immortal Beings . . . Yahuwah and His Son, Yahushua Messiah.  When Yahushua returns and the “trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.  So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory” (1 Corinthians 15:52-54).  Thus making Yahushua “the firstborn among many brethren” (Romans 8:29).

The Father is the Invisible Elohim

The Father has chosen to remain invisible to the human family . . . He is the invisible Elohim.  And there is a good reason for this.

NO MAN HATH SEEN ELOHIM AT ANY TIME; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared [or revealed] Him” (John 1:18).

“And the Father Himself, which hath sent Me, hath borne witness of Me.  Ye have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His shape” (John 5:37).

“Who (Yahushua) is the image of the invisible Elohim” (Colossians 1:15).

No man hath seen Elohim at any time” (1 John 4:12).

“If any man say, I love Elohim, and hateth his brother, he is a liar:  for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love Elohim Whom he hath not seen?” (1 John 4:20).

Thou canst not see My face; for there shall no man see me, and live” (Exodus 33:20).  This is the statement of Yahuwah Himself.  Remember . . . He hid Moses in the cleft of the rock and covered him with His hand while He passed by.  When Moses came out, he was only permitted to see Elohim’s “back parts”  (Exodus 33:22-23).

In the above Scriptures, Yahushua, John and Paul clearly state that no man hath seen Elohim.  Yet the beloved disciple had seen Yahushua . . . even leaned on His bosom at the last supper . . . but he had never seen the Almighty Elohim.  Again, this clearly shows a distinct difference between Yahuwah, the invisible Elohim and Yahushua, His Son.

Elohim has never been seen by man, but He has been seen by the angels.  “That their angels do always behold the face of My Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 18:10).  Where is Elohim?  In heaven.  He is not in the tree, in the bush, in me.  That belief that Elohim is in everything is referred to as pantheism.   And even though He is invisible to us, His face is seen by the angels in spite of what it says in John 4:24.  “Elohim IS A SPIRIT.”

And even though He is a Spirit we know that He is like us in form for “Elohim said, Let us make man in our image after our likeness” (Genesis 1:26).  In spite of neither having “heard His voice at any time, nor seen His shape” (John 5:37) we do know that He looks like our physical appearance.  But Psalm 139:7 says:  “Wither shall I go from Thy Spirit? Or wither shall I flee from Thy presence?”  It is by His Spirit (Ruach) (Holy Spirit) that He can be present everywhere, and He can dwell in us.  We will be studying about the Holy Spirit in chapter four of this series.

There are some things that will remain a mystery to us while we dwell on this earth which will someday be made clear to our understanding.  “For now we see through a glass darkly; but then face to face:  now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known” (1 Corinthians 13:12).  Someday Elohim will make all things clear to our understanding when we are face to face with Him (Revelation 21:3-4).  For now we can know that Elohim is a Spirit, and sits upon the throne in the third heaven from which He rules the Universe.
